'Green Minds, Business Brains and Customer First at the Heart of what we do.'

24/01/2008

Urban Mines, one of the first in the region to go for Customer First in 2003 has just achieved the Standard for the third time, demonstrating their commitment to continual improvement in support of their customers, clients, funders and partners.

The environmental consultancy specialises in sustainable waste management and helps to change the way we think and act to leave a positive footprint on our planet’s environment.  Urban Mines’ long-term vision is synergistic with the values at the heart of ‘Putting the Customer First.’ In particular, their belief in establishing long-term relationships, proudly asserting that ‘we go the distance for both our environment and the people we work with.’

James Horne, Project Manager, reflects on their achievement of the Customer First Standard over the years, “Customer First has helped us to introduce new ways of working as well as helping us to improve our analysis of customer feedback and improve the staff appraisals system. As a result customer relationships are being effectively nurtured and managed by staff members. The Standard has helped us to enhance our reputation for sharing best practice, keeping our promises and understanding the commercial realities and environmental costs of our customers. Above all our customers feel that they are highly valued and that their opinions and suggestions are a vital part of Urban Mines’ continual development.”

Managing Director, Peter Scholes, identifies the impact that Customer First has had on the not-for-profit environmental consultancy, “The Customer First experience has helped Urban Mines in two ways – it has helped increase the longevity of our external relations but just as importantly internal ways of working have become slicker, supporting the company to operate with greater efficiency.”
